Currently balancing "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink" with trying to provide adequate access time for students before & after school; so far i'm getting in 45 min before and an hour after. Is that enough?

Having given up this week on the "cooperative" grouping of student seats that looked so good and seemed like such a reasonable idea, I feel somewhat defeated, and at the same time relieved by the straight rows of desks, each student only responsible for his own little piece of real estate.  When is Spring Break again? For the first time in my teaching career, school was cancelled due to high bushfire danger, but my e-colleague friend in Canada had no school, due to heavy snow falls - a flat world indeed.

This week's weather has been nuts. Tuesday our school was closed - as a high fire risk - and today i'ts so cold and wet that you would think we were in the middle of winter. Marg - Australia



 

 

 
Temps are in the mid 70's in Ohio, windows are all open, and I am resisting the urge to wash them: rain tomorrow, plus more pressing issues -- report cards. Ugh.

my 30th birthday is less than 10 days away. i'm actually pretty pleased about life right now; i seem to have narrowly avoided marrying several guys from high school who i'd promised i'd marry "if we both got to 30 without finding someone." i missed taking the bullet on that one!
