.Spent three wonderful days in Melbourne supervising year 11 work experience students who were trying out the city life and workstyle, but they all seemed glad to return to the good life of the country. Photo below is of an old fashioned milk bar where I had a cup of tea before visiting the students. Anne Mirtschin

I just finished up my role as host for the Teachers Teaching Teachers webcast show and am excited about the conversations we had around collaboration, audience and the technology-infused writing classroom.

The countdown is on:

just 9 more days until my now very American son arrives back home in Switzerland.

Tenseful waiting fills my days.

This week, as many of my teacher/friends are ending their school years, I traveled back to the U of Maryland's Writing Project, with a finished Digital Document of the February Conference to share it with the team and then help them kick off their SI.  What fun!
And now a week to breathe before our SI09 begins after the 4th.
Enjoy your summer!

Making a shift today from being a principal to the first vacation day in a very long time.  Spending some time with my grandson.  Anxious to  make my own choices in the days ahead to spend my time reading, blogging, etc.   Karen

What an eventful day it's been so far: read a chapter from Tom Newkirk's new book on literacy, paid bills, chased my dog down the street, and caught up on three blogs I enjoy reading; and in the next few hours: organizing my books and deciding which to keep, which to toss, and which to donate: a heart-wrenching task, to say the least; perhaps I'll toss in some pool time as well!

Spent the last few days traveling from Brisbane, Australia to USA.

Been an adventure with delayed planes and lost luggage but looking forward to a few weeks of adventure.

Week 2 of summer vacation has been one of cleaning out and boxing up my book collection in my attempt to downsize.

Delaine in Fresno where the temps are over 100.

In this, my first summer vacation time in a couple of years I'm trying to balance clearing out old stuff to create some space in my house with pursuing the activities I love to do and want to do to take care of myself.  Soon enough it'll be time to start thinking about school again, looking forward to a better school year in 2009/10.

End of term today - 2 weeks of chilly winter mornings and gloriously sunny days, gardening, reading, catching up with friends and recharging the batteries ahead! Hope the happiness fairy finds you all. xox

Traveled across the country to Sonoma County CA for the wedding of my best friend (of 42 years) --different vegetation, different birds, different mammals, Mac laptop instead of desktop PC, but the same deep friendship as always.

my first plane trip in 5 years - FAIL. i made it on the plane, then walked back off. tried to return - couldn't.

claustrophobia makes me feel embarrassed, sad, and angry that i'm missing my brother's airforce basic training graduation because of some random synapses firing. sigh... - sara

This is my mom and her friends about to be eaten by a giant Arby's sandwich.  This has been a week of taking care of mom.  Mary Lee

Summer school finished today.  It's hard to believe that schools out east are just finishing the regular year.

Also, I was reminded that it's good to sit on an email for at least a day if you're frustrated about something.  Sender's remorse has set in.

Must stop procrastinating and finish Tommy LaRue's birthday photo book on Shutterfly.  Shouldn't be such a perfectionist if I want it ready for July 17th!  :)

After two great days working with teachers in Denver, I had a day of shopping for books and earrings with friends. Meeting new friends, seeing old friends, and shopping in a new city is always fun.  Looking forward to getting home in a few more days.

After two week's of PD (AMSTI), it's been nice to spend the day the day puttering around the woodshop, napping, and reading (and wrapping up with a trip to the gym).  Tim in AL

Not at NECC, but not to mind. Can still contribute in my own way. Just have to follow a few links and stay up late!
